In the role of a Merchandising Manager, the individual will be instrumental in selecting, highlighting, and enhancing the prominence of merchants and their offerings in the application, aiming to boost user engagement and in-store conversions. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, such as Marketing, Product, Sales, and Operations, is crucial for ensuring a cohesive and tailored consumer experience.

  • Direct the in-app display and content approach to highlight the most pertinent and effective stores and items for the consumers. Evaluate the outcomes of merchandising strategies on user involvement, conversions, and overall bookings.
  • Recognize and suggest enhancements, formulate plans grounded in consumer observations, competitive evaluations, market trends, and an in-depth analysis of categories and business outcomes.
  • Oversee the realization of broad programs within Retail. Coordinate and consolidate the contributions of various cross-functional teams such as Operations, Product, Sales, Support, Communications, and Legal, ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Engage in experimentation: conduct assessments, proactively pinpoint avenues for betterment, and discover expansion possibilities for the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with Product divisions to steer the creation of novel features rooted in business and consumer requirements; oversee multifaceted tasks for significant product introductions.
  • Cultivate and utilize cooperative ties with merchants in Japan and associated stakeholders.
  • Possessing over 5 years of experience in roles related to marketing, merchandising, operations, or strategy with an eagerness to broaden expertise; prior work in eCommerce, grocery, or CPG merchandising is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with category management, devising merchandising tactics, and demonstrated commercial insight.
  • Exceptional business acumen and analytical thinking, coupled with the ability to harness data and fresh insights to frame strategies and make decisions.
  • Adept at program and project management with a history of guiding cross-functional, high-impact initiatives. This includes goal-setting, team coordination, overseeing execution, instituting governance, and reporting. Experience in diverse cultural settings is a significant advantage.
  • Possessing an analytical disposition and notable business sense, coupled with proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel; hands-on engagement with these tools is pivotal for success in this position.
  • Demonstrating a proactive approach with a readiness to immerse oneself in tasks and a propensity for action.
  • Innately cooperative and adept at rallying multiple teams to steer efforts towards mutual objectives.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Japanese.
  • Deep knowledge of site merchandising, selection, cataloging, item data, and related digital products.
  • Awareness of merchandising strategies, planning, implementation, and the technologies involved in delivering such experiences.
  • Insight into customer behaviors, market trends, and emerging challenges specific to the Grocery and Merchandising sectors.
  • Capable of excelling in dynamic and uncertain settings.
  • Solid experience in designing and implementing intricate processes.
  • A track record of juggling multiple pressing tasks and consistently meeting stringent deadlines.
  • Exceptional collaborative abilities and stakeholder management expertise, fostering trust-filled connections with regional and cross-functional teams.
