The Legal & Compliance Manager possesses extensive expertise and experience in corporate legal matters, commercial legal affairs, and regulatory and compliance functions. This role encompasses two key functions: providing commercial legal counsel and conducting regulatory/compliance audits. Both aspects require close collaboration with various departments across the organization. Proficiency in English communication is essential.
The candidate's responsibilities within the commercial legal domain include conducting legal reviews and providing consultations to diverse departments, spanning regulatory, commercial, labor, and other areas. Additionally, the candidate will lead discussions with the broader PayPal legal community concerning any tasks related to group integration.
Corporate Legal
- Offering counsel on corporate governance matters.
- Managing corporate changes, such as director appointments and alterations in paid-in capital.
- Overseeing intra-group restructuring and contract management.
- Reviewing and crafting internal policies and regulations.
Commercial Legal
- Evaluating and creating commercial contracts.
Regulatory/Compliance
- Administering regulatory licenses in accordance with the Installment Sales Act, including cultivating positive relationships with government agencies to ensure the maintenance of necessary licenses.
- Supervising routine internal regulatory audits within the organization.
Group Integration
- Guiding conversations within the broader PayPal Legal community concerning legal integration assignments.
Must
Qualifications for the position include:
- Being a licensed attorney at law in Japan.
- Proficiency in cross-functional communication and collaboration.
- Capable of offering legal guidance to internal business stakeholders.
- A robust educational and professional background in legal and compliance matters.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in legal and compliance roles.
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
- Proficiency in business-level English.
Nice to have
- Experience in government relations and/or in-house legal roles is beneficial.
- Previous work experience in legal or compliance positions within financial institutions is an advantageous asset.
